The Squiggly Bridge – Glasgow HDR

Here another picture of the Broomielaw – Tradeston Bridge (also known as “The Squiggly Bridge”) in Glasgow. I posted a different monochrome long exposure shot of this bridge a couple of days ago, this time I’ve got a slightly different view point and post processing treatment.

This was taken about 2pm on a winter afternoon so the sun was low in the sky and there was a lot of contrast in the scene from the bright reflection in the windows across the water to the dark shadows under the arches of the bridge so I decided to shoot some HDR frames. This was composed of 9 frames ranging from -5EV to + 3EV in 1 stop increments. The image was tone mapped in HDR Efex pro, and finished off in Photoshop.

The Squiggly Bridge connects Tradeston on the South Bank with the Cities Financial district on the North Side. The bridge was built and designed by a partnership of a local engineering firm and Scandinavian architect. It was opened in May 2009 and cost around £6million
